Shortly About Me

Ryan Gessin joined Newmark Grubb Knight Frank in 2012 at the firm's New York headquarters, where he specializes in tenant and landlord advisory, pre-acquisition due diligence, portfolio underwriting and analysis. A sought-after real estate advisor across several markets, Mr. Gessin focuses particularly on New York's five boroughs. Mr. Gessin represents several established national corporate clients. Working directly with Senior Managing Director Ross Perlman, he provides a broad scope of services, including global portfolio, strategic planning and space utilization implementation to prestigious clients like Barney's New York and Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide. In addition, Mr. Gessin has built a significant roster of growing national clients that includes Irmat Pharmacy, Dinner Lab and 4.0 Schools. Since 2011, he has provided real estate advisory services to Schweiger Dermatology Group that have helped grow its footprint from two to 20 locations. With his particular expertise in Brooklyn, Mr. Gessin is often asked by landlords, tenants and lending institutions to share his insights and market analysis pertaining to this submarket. Most recently, Mr. Gessin represented Irmat Pharmacy in the leasing of its new 30,000-square-foot national headquarters at Industry City in the Sunset Park neighborhood. Additionally, he advised culinary incubator Brooklyn FoodWorks in its highly publicized 11,000-square-foot deal at 630 Flushing Avenue in Bushwick, also in Brooklyn. Mr. Gessin has also provided consulting and pre-acquisition due diligence services for more than $200.0 million worth of development, retail and office properties throughout Brooklyn on behalf of landlords and investors. Mr. Gessin's unique real estate skill set was illustrated by his work on the recent sale of 1057 Lexington Avenue for $24.0 million. In this off-market transaction, Mr. Gessin represented both the buyer and seller, while he simultaneously negotiated a 20-year lease extension for the current retail tenant, Orsay Restaurant. Prior to joining Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, Mr. Gessin served as debt acquisitions manager for real estate hedge fund Hirshmark Capital and as vice president of the Commercial Division at Halstead Property. Mr. Gessin holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin and is active in its alumni association.
